My Prayer-Poem for Tuesday 6 April 2021
(Third poem for the Easter Octave)
​Two Crises
The double crisis of our time;
ecological disaster and a pandemic;
both devastating,
both prompting the fierce urgency of “now”.
Both begin by damaging health,
damage to the body, environmental damage.
Then an escalation of devastating consequence.
And the poorest, as always, suffer most.
Make us like those Easter travellers
whose hearts were warmed,
whose eyes were opened
in an ordinary home in Emmaus.
