My Prayer-Poem for the 43rd Day of Lent, Wednesday in Holy Week, 31 March 2021

Your time is drawing nearer Lord;
events will soon conspire
and divine destiny will run its course
like fuel to a fire.
This suffering, beyond belief,
was it part of your will?
Or were you pressured into this
like grist unto some mill.
And yes, I know you warned your friends
that blood would be outpoured
but did you really contemplate
that this would happen, Lord?
In dark Gethsemane you sweated blood
and asked for a reprieve
but knew that you would give your life-
well that’s what I believe.
And when I cherish freedom’s gift
above all else and say
that I’m the master of my fate
today and every day,
remind me of the Will of God
beyond our time and space,
weaving time and eternity
in consecrated Grace
