COME
She asked persistently, almost daily at first; then long weeks before new probings which trickled into a flood. And I, with priestly pomposity, (but meaning well) rehearsed the great and glorious canon of our creed. Until, with clear intent, she asked me to cut through the wonders of philosophy and strike a simpler note. “What is the way of Christ; what word condenses essence into light?” I thought to choose “forgiveness” or “redemption” or “pure love” but then, remembering the invitation of our Lord, I knew at once to say the word is “COME”. ©️Mark Andrew Smith #the100dayproject #KingsSchoolsTaunton #PrayAPoem #DioceseBathWells #WoodardSchools
