The words of Jesus in the Gospel for Passion Sunday, St John Chapter 12 verse 24.
“Very truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain: but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

Seeds

How wonderful the seeds
of myriad plants and trees,
holding within their tiny bodies
all that will be.
We should keep them safely locked away,
so precious a gift,
so powerful their promise held within.
We will create safe spaces where all seeds
are allowed to be seeds without fear,
safe in the knowledge
that they will not be broken open
or scattered carelessly to the wind.
We will do what is right;
never again should a seed, a precious seed,
fall to the ground, let alone die.
Never again should we be so thoughtless
as to allow mindless birds and insects
to simply carry them away.
And we will cultivate a safer world
and our beautiful and bountiful planet
will be, once again, the garden of Eden.
