My Prayer-Poem for the 21st day of Lent, Tuesday 9 March 2021
Rahab the Canaanite Rahab lived in Jericho challenging the status quo, prostitution being her only claim to fame. and to add one insult more to this Canaanitic whore is the crude and humorous meaning of her name. Meaning “wider than a road” Rahab’s name may have forebode what’s recorded clearly in the Holy Books; for she welcomed Joshua’s spies which probably seemed unwise, although neighbours often saw those lustful looks. But the meaning of her name was much more than jest and shame, for she bravely played her part in Your campaign. And the walls of evil fell and a Saviour she’s foretell and a wide embrace for humankind again. ©️Mark Andrew Smith #the100dayproject #KingsTaunton #PrayAPoem #DioceseBathWells #WoodardSchools
