My Prayer-Poem for the 13th day of Lent, St David’s Day, 1 March 2021

He seems to have lived carefully,
without grasping,
without excess of any kind;
breathing in the mountains
and the sea, and free
and drinking only from the spring
he would sing
of Jesus.
He taught, as a bishop should,
of “the little things”
and drew his fellows, one by one,
to drink from that living water
bubbling magnanimously
from the heart of God.
