The Seventh Sunday of Easter 16 May 2021

Viri Galilaei (Men of Galilee)

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky?
The Lord will return, just as you have seen him ascend.”

Heavenly Jesus Christ, our Saviour, God and King
You send us in your name to every living thing;
we are your hands and feet, your beating heart on earth,
enlivened and empowered by that gift of Second Birth.

Sometimes we are obsessed by what has gone before
and heavenward we gaze, willing You to restore
the easy and familiar, which expedite our days;
like men of Galilee entranced, into the skies we gaze.

But You will not indulge us and let us dream and drool!
Your Kingdom needs our hands and feet in High Street and in School.
So wake us from our slumber, from Zombie-like malaise
and by Your Spirit energise our work in love and praise.
